Experts say that\u2019s unlikely \u2014 and comes with consequences<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pakistan&#8217;s defense minister, Khawaja Asif, told reporters that &#8220;things are shaping up again in favor of a peace arrangement or a deal,&#8221; per Bloomberg News.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The signals in the last two to three days are that we are close to some sort of an arrangement,&#8221; he added, without providing further details.<\/p>\n<p>The Pakistani official&#8217;s comments came after a Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson told Al Jazeera that talks between Iran and Oman about opening a shipping channel through the Strait of Hormuz were at a &#8220;critical juncture.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked to respond to Asif&#8217;s remarks, the White House referred CNBC to President Donald Trump&#8217;s comments from the Oval Office on Monday evening, when reporters pressed him on what action the U.S. would take against Iran next.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You&#8217;ll find out,&#8221; Trump replied.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>U.S. and Iran trade reparation demands<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Earlier Monday, Trump reacted to Tehran&#8217;s renewed demand for war reparations by announcing that he is &#8220;likewise demanding compensation from Iran.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump, in a Truth Social post, also demanded payment to the families of Iranian protesters who have been killed &#8220;over the last 50 years.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have instructed my representatives to put this firmly into any, and all, future negotiations,&#8221; he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>In his Oval Office remarks Monday afternoon, Trump said Iran should pay for &#8220;the damage they&#8217;ve done&#8221; over the past half a century.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If there&#8217;s damages to be paid, I think Iran should pay those damages,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p>Trump also repeated his claim that the Hormuz strait, the major oil-shipping route that Iran has used to gain leverage in the war, is under U.S. control.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The only one that has control of the Strait of Hormuz right now is the United States Navy,&#8221; Trump said, praising the ongoing U.S. blockade of Iranian ports around the waterway.<\/p>\n<p>But traffic through the strait, which saw 20% of the world&#8217;s oil trade before the conflict began in late February, remains at a relative trickle. The war-induced tumult in the strait has caused a global energy supply shock, sharply raising oil prices and causing broader economic consequences.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. forces early Tuesday morning fired on a Panama-flagged vessel that tried to bypass the blockade, The Wall Street Journal reported. U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to CNBC&#8217;s request for comment on the report.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/interstatemovingexpertss.com\/?p=1665\">Democrats clash again in Minnesota and Wisconsin primaries as big midterm races take shape<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oil prices vacillated Tuesday morning amid the conflicting signals on whether any progress was being made toward a deal to resolve hostilities in the strait.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>A major sticking point<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, secretary of Iran&#8217;s Supreme National Security Council, said Saturday the strait won&#8217;t reopen until Washington lifts its naval blockade and sanctions, withdraws American forces from the region, pays war reparations, and releases frozen Iranian assets. The council also called for an end to U.S. attacks on Iran&#8217;s regional allies. <\/p>\n<p>Iran&#8217;s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday pushed back on the economic front.
