Trump says U.S. to build a ‘large Military presence’ in Greenland as part of a security deal with it and Denmark

“We will immediately begin the process of developing a large Military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland, of which there are many,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

The deal as described in that post appears to stop far short of Trump’s prior insistence that Greenland must be made a part of the United States.

Greenland has maintained it is not for sale, and the European Union earlier this year united to rebuke Trump over his push to acquire the island.

Trump claimed Friday that the agreement addresses “ALL of our many U.S. concerns,” adding that “There will be NO COST to the United States.”

The official text of any deal was not immediately available. Greenland and Denmark did not immediately confirm that a deal had been struck.
